Change Propane Tank

It is not how often you change it, there is an expiration date on the tank, you can't see it until someone points it out to you. You will know when to change the tank, your gas man will tell you it's expired and he won't refill it. He can tell right away if your tank has been expired by it's valve. So, until your gas man tells you to buy a new one, keep using what you have. $25 for a new 5 gallon tank in my area and about $4/gallon propane. Aloha!

If your concern is running out of gas, keep a spare on hand, to check the level of gas remaining in the tank, boil 2 quarts water and gently pour it down the side of the tank. the tank will be cold where the gas is and warm towards the upper part, as propane sets on the bottom of the tank.

the tank needs to be recertified about every 10 yrs. a propane yard can do this for you.

Tanks are good for ten years. There is a date stamped on the top of the tank. After ten years the welds are no longer certified and the filling station has the right to refuse to fill the tank.

The tank is only good as long as there is gas withing, Go to QVC and look for a regulator to gauge the level of gas within. As far as the tank itself, should last longer than you and me.

some have a guage on the side to tell you how low it is. otherwise you just go when its empty. you have to exchange it for a different one here so you want to use it up.

Whenever it is empty, depends on how often you use the grill.
