can someone tell me what this editorial cartoon means... i have the cartoon siting in front of me so i will explain it to you. In the background of the cartoon a train is approaching.. in the front of the cartoon a man dressed in a suit is at the railroad station. he is behind a podium, (in the front of the podium, attached is a sign that says)"Thompson for president" the next important detail is his briefcase that reads 2008.(as big as day on the side bottom of the potium) There is nothing else around except for this man (and the dog in front of him who seems to be itching at fleas or something??) standing behind a podium at a train station reading from a piece of paper saying aloud "After careful deliberation ive decided to get on board.."

i would apprec. if you understand this cartoon to explain it to me because i am very confused thank you!!!!!!!

Hmm, are you sure the train is approaching? It would make more sense if the train was departing -- there's been some criticism of Thompson for waiting so long to declare, so it could be making fun of him "getting on board" when the train has already left.

But if the train is approaching, it makes no sense to me.

Thompson waited until after the Iowa straw-poll was taken before announcing. There were also a couple of debates that took place before he announced.

I think the cartoon was meant to imply that he waited too late; the train had already left the station.

IMO: No. Political cartoons many times use witty humor to portray a political adventure. many times to mock a guy or woman, make exciting of an adventure. akin to what that's doing yet its how its represented and presented. This comedian is basically a user-friendly mock. No humor or wit in touch. Low point at ideal that's merely poking exciting at Bush.

It'd make more sense if the train was leaving; that Thompson had missed his train (his opportunity, his momentum), and he was down to just one man and his dog for an audience.

Fred Thompson keeps avoiding the question of whether or not he will run for president. I guess this means he is finally making up his mind.

Probably written by a Liberal, like he will be like a train that never comes as far as affecting their candidate who has been campaigning for 6 years.!.... We will see, Ms. Hitlary Clinton will not become a Dictator as she wishes without a Fight, not to worry!
