Yes, perfect, as long as the 7/8p is 7/8s of p, rather than 7 divided by 8p. Then you're all screwed up

Another method

7/8p - 4 = 10

Transpose 4

7/8p - 4 + 4 = 10 + 4

Collect like terms

7/8p = 14

Multiply both sides of the equation by 8

8(7/8p) = 8(14)

7p = 112

Divide both sides of the equation by 7

7p / 7 = 112 / 7

p = 112 / 7

p = 16

Yes, you working and answer are fine. However, instead of converting the fraction to a decimal, you can just ,multiply boths sides by the inverse fraction (8/7). You get (8*14)/7 = 112/7 = 16.

yes, but it would have been easier if you had multiplied both sides by 8/7 instead of converting to a decimal.
