I'll need to store my belongings at a self-storage place for several months. I've never done this before. Can you rent one large space for your car plus all your things, or is this not safe (in terms of fire hazard)? Is it more typical to rent a separate room/garage (indoors) for your car and a separate room for your belongings?

yes, I agree. Many storage places simply don't look big enough (from the outside) for vehicles and furniture/boxes to be in the same space. That's why I wondered maybe you have to rent two rooms or go to a completely different kind of facility for your storing your car. I would preferably like to store my car inside and not outside in parking space.

Disconnect the car battery and run the tank dry or close to dry before storing it. Also, you may want to check on the correct tire pressure to leave in the tires. Make sure you leave a crack open in the car window to allow some air flow.

Other than that, nothing wrong with leaving your other personal items around the car.

Don't know but from the outside those self-storage places do not look big enough to store a car & belongings. I think u need a garage or at least 2 places. Y not call the ones in your area up & get the answer from them?

It depends on the garage amenities. If you are storing it through winter some are heated. Also it is quite common for people to do this sort of thing. It saves money for one thing and storage space at your house. NOT UNCOMMON WHATSOEVER

If you don't need your car & wish to store it, go ahead & use same storage. Make sure you have plenty of mice deterants in storage space for protection of car & stuff.

I guess that it depends on the place that you are renting.

Not all places can store a car, inside.

Also, you might be able to pay to park your car there, monthly. Some have on site parking for lease.
