The light inside me seems to need a switch to shine. I think of it as the Holy Spirit and if I listen, I will let the Spirit in. Then others can see it shine through me. You can tell alot from a person's eyes and I have been told that my eyes smile. Sometimes I can even feel the love shining out of them onto those who are suffering for eg. So maybe I'm the lightbulb but the power doesn't come from me. I know that because I'm the type to want to isolate when I know I should be out there loving others.

If you are asking about electric light bulbs, then the answer must be both and neither.
Technically, one would say the actual light comes from the filament inside the bulb which glows as electricity passes through it. However, until the switch is turned on, no electricity passes through the filament. Then again, without electricity, neither the bulb nor the switch will cause light to shine.
If you are speaking about the mind; well, there are plenty of people out there who never turn on the switch and light up there minds. They just follow the crowd and never bother to ask questions, read or desire to learn new things.

The switch controls the power flowing to the light bulb.

The light itself comes from an incadesent filament or a florescent powder.

From the reaction inside the light bulb, from whatever external energy you apply to it.
