Well I hate tuna fish, I think it smells awful....But I digress.
Why don't most people eat dolphin? Because dolphins are popular in modern culture and known to be highly intelligent mammals. Dolphin meat contains naturally high levels of mercury, so health wise it is not a good thing to consume. Dolphins (the mammals, not the fish) are a protected species in the US... So are most whale species - but that fact doesn't keep certain Japanese establishments in Tokyo from offering 'kujira' in both cooked and sashimi style.... I believe they even serve dolphin meat in their schools.

Tuna is a fish, Dolphin in a mammal. I do believe it is also on the imperiled species list and it takes longer for them to breed and have young. Their population does not rebuild the way a fish does because they only have one at a time, not thousands like the tuna.

Considering the huge amount of cheating with the whole "Dolphin safe" bit I'd say you're eating mammal anyway. Btw; they don't swim around the net for the same reason the Tuna don't- the average net size is around 5 miles in diameter! Oh! One last thing- Vegans don't *own* any leather or use *any* animal products! Get a clue!

dolphins look like they're smiling, that's the main reason. So, if ever you're in Borneo and caught by the cannibals (ouch), smile, and you may just convince them to have salad.
