What are accomplishments? We are all accomplishers so why should we look for credit? We can all achieve given the right motivation, encouragement, no person is smarter than the next. Circumstances make us so, if we all had the same upbringing, we could be whatever we want to be. Vanity is what warrants validity. If you do something, do it for yourself and not for recognition!

Bit of both really. My logical brain can give myself credit for my achievements but my subconscious constantly seeks validation from others. Which side wins out depends a lot on whether I am suffering from depression at the time or am in a fairly good place.

Didnt used to, constantly had to see myself through someone elses eyes to get validation. Then I wised up, to be acknowledged is great, but hanging around keep waiting for it is no good. If you managed something, you can silently give yourself a slap on the back without being considered a nutter. If you overcome something, then even more so. Yes comliments and to be acknowledged is all great, but to not receive these and therefore feel whatever you have done is not worthy, ...................no thats not the way.

I give myself credit but it sure is nice when others see those accomplishments and mention it.

Yes...validity from others can be important but not necessary providing YOU are aware of your own achievements!!
