You probably need to see if you can deal with the source of the smell. Having too many perfumes around is really not that good for you lungs over the long term. Is there a carpet in the apartment? if so, it might be a good idea to see if your parents will rent a carpet cleaner, clean it with a good quality carpet cleaning solution, and then go over it one last time with plain hot water to which they have added 1 cup of vinegar. Vinegar is a great neutralizer, a is really helpful in getting out many kinds of stains. Another option you might want to try first is to get some baking soda and sprinkle it over the whole carpet. Rub it in a little and let it sit for a couple of hours, then vacuum out. Good luck!

Plug-in air freshners will simply mask the odor. You might try Ozium air santizer which is sold at Walgreens. Realtors recommend it and car dealers use it when selling cars that have belonged to smokers.

Try your grocery store, wal-mart, cvs, or online. I've always seen them in the big chain stores, such as target, etc..
