I always like the calming effect of coming home. But precisely because coming home is "calming", it can not be exciting. Anything and everything about home is usual and expected.
On the other hand, the prospect of adventure, of discovery, and of the unknowns on a trip will definitely shoot your adrenalin up.

for me, going on a trip excites me more. it's the unknown territory factor that excites me :)
however, going home, though not as exciting is something i always look forward to. coz it means i get to rest and go though all the stuff i bought and pictures i took during the trip
but i guess it depends on the trip. if it was a boring or disastrous trip, then going how will be such a welcome, even exciting :) but if the trip was too short, or if there's something unpleasant waiting for you back home (like a mountain of work) then going home is not that exciting or not something i'd look forward to :)

Going, going, going! Means seeing new things, being where you will be for too short a time, enjoying different foods, people, sights.... and.. coming back, is depressing because you will be home which you already know, for so many more months before you can go to enjoy another new place. That is not to say that your home is a bad place, it's just a comfortable place that you already know like your slippers. I just like variety.

Coming home offers more excitement, Corinna, especially for OFWs.
I've been around Saudi Arabia. Trips to Jeddah from Riyadh, by plane, back and forth. Or overland to distant places like Qassim in the Eastern part. Never exciting, really. More like, tedious journeys you would rather do without. There is a possibility I might have to go to Bisha right after the Eid holidays, and I really would not rather go.
But comin' home is always something to look forward to.
Even if the plane has to go through many stop overs, eventually it would land in Manila.

Both the trips excite me: going on a trip and in coming home.

The thrill of embarking on to another place is great. But, for me, it is a lot more exciting coming home to family and friends with tales of adventure and misadventure to tell and "pasalubongs" to give away.

Right now, I am looking for a nice trip. I haven't left Dallas since early April.
I look forward to coming home only when I've been away for a long time. Like a long holiday or a long trip.

I always want to travel more than coming back home!!! Because I always dreamed of traveling for a long period of time. And staying at home for the rest of my life is simply boring!!!
