do you have vista? if you do and it says "local only" than put your mouse over those little computers on the bottom right of the screen -right click and press "diagnose and repair" and than click the option "get new ip settings" or something like that.

if you have xp than try turning off the router-waiting a minute and turning it back on

you will want a instant router (I easily have a linksys if that facilitates), a instant computing device card (in the journey that your computing device isn't instant in a position already) and reckoning on your determination, you additionally can get a instant NIC card to your laptop besides. in case you do no longer want to try this, you could bypass away your laptop how this is. The manufacturers do no longer probable make a difference (only like with maximum issues) once you pay greater for a sort call product, all you're incredibly paying for is the call itself. all of them do the same concern. quite it is going to set up like this: your internet connection will pop out of the wall, into the modem, from the modem to the router, and the router will connect wirelessly on your computing device. Like I suggested earlier, you could make the laptop instant besides in case you do unlike all of the wires everywhere, yet you do no longer would desire to because of fact the laptop can only hook up with the router via an ethernet cable.

Most desktops do not have wifi capability. You have to add hardware to enable wifi capability. Consider something like this:
