You can factor this to (x - 5)(x - 3) so if you are looking to solve this:
x^2 + 8x + 15 = 0
the answers are x = 5 and x = 3.

you factor this out, so (x-3)(x-5)
in this, -3-5=-8, and -3*-5=15
you set this equal to zero, so
(x-3)(x-5)=0, and therefore (x-3)=0 and (x-5)=0
if (x-3)=0, then x=3
and if (x-5)=0, then x=5
your answers are 3 and 5
now you check it
x^2-8x+15
(3)^2-8(3)+15
9-24+15=0, so this works
x^2-8x+15
(5)^2-8(5)+15
25-40+15=0, so this works
x=5 and x=3

x2-8x+15=0
You have to factor this equation so it takes the form:
(x+a)(x+b)=0
then the two answers will be x=-a and x=-b
for your problem x2-8x+15
what two a, and b will multiply to +15, and add to -8?
possibilities (1,15) (-1,-15) (3,5) (-3,-5)
Of all the possibilities only (-3,-5) both multiply to 15 and add to -8.
so your equation factors to
(x-3)(x-5)=0
giving x=3 and x=5 as answers

x^2 - 8x + 15? I'm assumine x^2-8x+15 = 0?
(x + Y) * (x + Z) = x^2 - 8x + 15
well... Yx and Zx have to equal -8
Y * Z have to equal 15
Y = -3
Z = -5
-3 * -5 = 15
-3x + -5x = -8

Use the quadratic formula (look it up if you don't know) or factor the equation getting the answer:
(x-5) ( x-3) = 0
Set each set of parathensis to 0 and solve resulting in
x = 3,5

What is your question? Do you want to factor the expression? Do you want to solve x^2 - 8x + 15 = 0? Do you want to graph y = x^2 - 8x + 15? Please clarify.

The reason you are having trouble may be that you don't have a whole solveable problem there!
Did you mean "x^2 - 8x + 15 = 0", maybe?

you have to factor it.
(x-5)(x-3)
Then set each one to zero and solve.
x-5 = 0.... x=5
x-3 = 0.... x=3
