Well, you see, i have a pet ant, and im keeping him in a plastic container full with garden ( and natural ) soils, a couple of broken sticks, leaves, and woodchips. So far, he seems to be a happy camper. But the thing is, what do they eat?? im talking about the small black kind ( well, its a baby right now ) that comes in packs. So, if you could tell me what type of food i should supply, that would help save the little ones life, and will be GREATLY appreciated. Thank!

Ants eat food that we drop on the floor and the ants pick it up and take it to their hill

Depends on the type ant, generally they are broken down into "sugar eaters" and "protein eaters"--those are the ones that bite. Split the difference, try a dab of peanutbutter and jelly. They need moisture too, so try a piece of cotton--Qtip end, snipped off and kept moist.

ants eat anything from dead bugs to human food. They really like sweet stuff like candy or honey

ants eat almost anything but they mostly prefer sweet food (candy is the best, they really like it) just put a unravelled jolly rancher in there and the ant will be kissing your feet!!!

my dear, ants eat almost anything! crumbs of bread, sprinkle of sugar, tiny winny bit slice of pizza, crumbs of your potatoe chips, though they tend to really like something that is with sugar in it...happy eating!!! ANTS....
