It plays about 25 min into the movie, Nick Nolte is reading the symptoms of the disease. Then it plays again later when Lorenzo is struggling.

This is only from memory but if I remember correctly it's the very famous "Adagio for Strings" by Samuel Barber.

(btw it's a 20th century piece, not classical)
