Is it racist.?

Question

why can we have a competition called 'Miss Black America' and programs on the television called 'Black music night' when any of these starting in white would be classed as racist, and why do they have to be seperated by colour any way. Is this not 2007

Yeah, I think thats racist. There is also the United Negro College Fund, Jet Magazine, and Black Entertainment Television. Which, dont get me wrong, is GREAT. HOWEVER, try to have things like the United Caucasian College Fund or Miss White America, and see what happens. There would be riots.

Some people would argue that its OK for black folks to have special treatment because of all the years of slavery. But I dont think thats a valid arguement. What about all the hundreds of thousands of Jews that were enslaved for centuries by the Egyptians. Or the hundreds of thousands of people who were enslaved by the Vikings?

Its just the same thing with sexism. Its OK for women to say that guys are stupid pigs (which they arent), but God forbid if a man said that about women.

I suppose the reason is that blacks have been so discriminated against in the regular Miss America pageant, but I wonder if that is the case anymore. Still, they are judged on how well they fit the white stereotype of beauty, whereas Miss Black America may look more truly African and still be seen as beautiful because she is being judged by mostly or entirely black judges.

I suppose the same sort of thing is true of Black Music Night. Face it, most every other night is white music night, at least in many places. Again, that may not be as true as it once was, but still it's the judges and what standards they set that will matter.

I'm old enough to remember when white people didn't admit (at least to their parents and grandparents) that they liked Motown music or any music performed by blacks. The first time I heard a white woman (a Girl Scout camp counselor, as a matter of fact) refer to Sidney Poitier as "sexy," I almost swallowed my chewing gum! Imagine, she said it right out loud, in front of all those girls!

It was a closet thing, as so much was when I was young. I'd like to think we've grown up as a culture, but I'm not so sure.

If racism didn't exist, then these separate organizations wouldn't exist. Why not ask why or how did these black organizations come about? Why did blacks feel the need to create separate organizations 20, 30, 40 plus years ago? because we all know the answer to that, yet you still complain. Ya, it's 2007 and we still live in a racist society, just not as extreme as it use to be.

Well I guess the black people who enter the competition or entertain on music night don't have a problem, and the people who watch it. I wouldn't enter a white UK competition but then I haven't a chance of winning, or a sense of rhythm for the entertainment.

Just why do Black people call each other by the 'N' word and its a term of affection yet if a white person says it then it is classed as one of the worst racial slurs ever?
The whole Colour thing should be dropped there shouldnt be all this Black & White rubbish people are people you either like each other or you dont thats it. Colour shouldnt come in to it.

Wow. This is definitely serious. People just presume that your profile picture is supposed to to look similar to you. I know exactly how you feel. My problem is vice versa, I use white profile pictures usually but I'm actually black. They're either using simple sense and are not considering this option or are randomly guessing.

I guess we still have "Miss Black America" ad the other thing because seriously, we are not as equal as we'd like to think in that respect.

Hell, even back in the day, rap wasn't played on black radio stations. Anyway, some still think black women aren't as attractive as the typical blonde haired, straight hair, blue eyes, porcelain skin types.
Us blacks stil have dark hair, flat or big noses and all that.

Do you even need to ask this question? Whites arent allow to have anything promoting themselves. Every other race hates us anyways, only time we can promote something white is when we are bashing ourselves. Just face it, the future doesnt look good for the white man, we cant even stand up for ourselves anymore without getting shot down. We cant even have anything without Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson beaten down our door with a lawsuit. Invest in tissues because we have a long road ahead of spit getting throwned on our face. You did not think 40 to 70 years from know racism will be over did you. There are still racsit out there that come in any color of the skin. The world is not perfect.
