Wow big question... because history teaches us everything we need to know to progress. If we don't study the mistakes of the past, they are repeated... as we are seeing today.

Examples,
Vietnam War
Hitler's use of propaganda to control the masses
Capitalism resulting in revolutions throughout history
Etc...

History is supposed to give people a look at what happens when you wimp out or back off of dealing with problems. To bad the current congressional leadership stills favors rolling over instead of resolving problems. Now that they have succeeded in getting the lowest rating for congress in the US history they will have to find some other dumb ideas to try. The current mini-series "WAR" on PBS shows how pacifist permitted the world to get involved in it's biggest disaster. We can only hope someone wakes up and starts doing positive things instead of wasting time playing politics.

History my friend is watching and writting dowen every small movement or say that happens each vimto second of all human lives .
and I think 'm laughing loadly for whats happening now , and surprised that we never LEARN of what he wrote ..... well I mean what did happen to people like Hitler , Stallin , Holako. .........etc ., and ende by Saddam Hussain !!!!

to be a good leader you have to learn from HISTORY so you dont repeat the same mistakes ,,,
I hope some Idiots that rules some world countries ,can hear the voice of history now before it is too late .......

I think you learn about how the world is changing, what type of governments work and do not work, the shifting tides of political power and the reasons why, the impact of social attitudes and economics,, the impact of legal systems, religion, philosophy, and the evolution of science and industry. Learn these lessons early and well.
