It's common for children to get homesick when they go to a friends house or even sometimes a relatives house. They like having things a certain way. They have a bedtime routine and the disruption of being away from home makes it hard to deal with it. Kids of ANY age can go through this. Some children just don't feel secure and safe away from home. It's not a big deal. One thing I use to do for my son was call right before bed to say goodnight, but if his friends asked he would say, she's just checking on me, my mom is such a sap. It let him off the hook and he got his good night. Or I'd put a note in his stuff saying goodnight I love you. His friends thought it was cool. My one niece never stayed away from home until she went to college. She felt uncomfortable at anyone's home. Now she says she knows it was just because her parents made home such a wonderful place to be. Mom to 3 here.

The first night, I never sleep well away from home. But after that, I seem to get used to it and sleep fine.

I usually sleep much better in my own bed - although I think I have noticed a few exceptions to this recently. I think the only exceptions must have been on occasions when I was very tired.

My girlfriend has the same problem... she doesn't sleep too well away from home... I usually do not have a problem, especially if it's a big, comfortable hotel bed.

No! I am very uncomfortable anywhere else. I am a home body. Stay at home all the time. Do everything at home!

I can sleep anywhere at anytime as long as it's dark and fairly quiet.
