I am British and like Isreal. I think you guys are brave standing up to the others like Iran, etc with no other close allies in the region.

God bless you guys.

Israel is the last colonialist power on earth if this tells you anything at all.

Having said that I have to stress on the fact that being a colonialist and occupying power is not necessarily the fault of the Israeli people, and indeed some of them might genuinely want to live in peace, but again most are driven by the myth of the promised land and the divine "license to kill" they have been granted to fulfill the prophecy. I have to tell you frankly that this position is what is earning you hatred in the region and elswhere. If you want to be respected then you have to equally respect the rights of others.

Saying that Arabs want to kill you is just childish, I'm Arab and all I want from Israelis is to give back the lands they occupy (which are by the way recognized Arab territories) i.e. Gaza Strip, West Bank, East Jerusalem, Golan Heights and Shebaa Farms. This is not just my position but this is the official Arab position through the famous initiative of 2002. http://www.al-bab.com/arab/docs/league/peace02.htm

If you want peace just give the land back. I know you would just love to have the entire cake for yourself that is everything land, love and glory, but I'm afraid things do not work this way... yes its a cruel world ;).

And about Iran, what you say is pure propaganda and hollow assumptions becasue of the following:
1- Iran doesn't have a nuclear bomb (so far).
2- Iran's nuclear program is fully under the supervision of the IAEA and is within its internationally recognized rights.
3- Even if Iran was able to develop a nuclear weapon do you really think they are so stupid to use it against the US, can you imagine the level of retaliation? Iran would not be able to use a nuclear device against Israel or the US without jeopardizing its very existence. Its just not logical.

Israel is one of the few countries that officialy sponsor terrorism through the targeted killings of resistance political leaders. And as a state is accused of commiting the equivalent of terrorism usually called War crimes. So I hope you don't hate yourself too.

Cheers

I don't think everyone hates Israel. If it's anything, people are opposed to the government. People in the US, have nothing against Israel, or at least most of them. This is a very divided country, so you are always going to find people who hate other people. Unfortunately we have the KKK, and as we have freedom of Speech there is no way to stop there, and there are also the Neo-Nazis, again, freedo of speech, but other that that on the general field there is no great hatred of the country. Being Jewish I have run into people along the way who just hate jews and have had to endure some bad jokes, but that's life.
Oh, but the way for the person who wrote about high IQ's -- hate to tell you but a 75 is not a high IQ, it's closer to being a moron.

Shalom,

I love Israel.

I lived there during my gap year, before University, and I had a wonderful time.

Sadly, many people think they understand a lot about the Israeli-Arab problem, when in fact they don't.

They don't realise how tiny Israel is, that she's about the size of the state of New Jersey.

They don't realise that Israel was attacked within 12 hours of declaring independence, by all the neighbouring Arab countries.

They don't realise that the Arab states, on the whole, loathe Israel and that this is FACT. Anyone who has ever watched the TV in any Arab state will recognize it as truth.

They don't realise that Israel is on constant red alert because of terrorism.

They don't realise that the Palestinians have been treated the most badly by their Arab bretheren and that Israel gives them free water, medical care, electricity, and yes FREE ARMS to protect themselves from Hamas militants.

What other country would voluntarily arm the very group that are now sending rockets into Israeli towns like Sderot???

But not everyone hates Israel! From what I can ascertain, Americans understand far more than the British, for example, about what is happening out in the Middle East and many of them are very supportive of Israel.

Also, please know that your fellow Jews, around the world, love Israel and support her. We don't say she is perfect - but then what country is?

Shalom, and also a belated Shanah Tovah to you!

Note: if you come to the Israel section, in the Travel forum, there are other Israelis there.

The very presence of a zionist state in the Middle East is very controversial to many people as I'm sure you know. Trying to make friends with people from the stone ages will get you nowhere. You are a strong nation and are capable of defending yourself but you are allied with an even stronger nation who likes to invade countries in the Middle East and get involved in their affairs, this has made you even more hated. The best thing that would help Israel would be for the United States to stop giving military or financial aid to you, and for the US to pull out of the region.

Israel is America's only true ally in the middle east. The vast majority of Americans support Israel.

I think that Islamists feel religiously threatened, because they have lost controlo of Jerusalem. They also fear the loss of the mosque on the mount over the old Jewish Temple. Emotionally, they seem to believe that this mosque is a sign from God of their triumph over Judaism. Most Westerners believe that the Jews will always be God's chosen people. God bless you. Peace.

I don't hate Israel. But your politicians and your army are doing monstrous things. And although the media are rarely paying attention to that, the truth has a way of getting out. I do think that you are people like everyone (except for some "chosen people" thingies) and that Israel has a right to exist, but so do the Palestinians and the other people whose homes your army keeps tearing down, whose children your army keeps killing etc.

As for one thing, I don't like Israel: I don't like seeing them in European sport competitions, because I don't think they belong there.

It's cause you don't look like the rest of the people in that region (I mean those that haven't interbred with Arabs at some point).

Isrealies (sp?) are European, and are in an area that is primarily Arabian. So there are going to be problems. At least that's my take.

The conflict is pretty much forever.
