Europe was full of unresolved issues and borders. It was only a matter of time before one of the conflicts erupted. Technology was partly to blame. Governments found they had new weapons and new logistical support through railroads, new sources of food and fuel, and enhanced colonial systems.
Once war became an option, there were a number of regimes anxious to claim superiority over their neighbors.
