I transplanted them into large containers and give them plenty of water and sunlight. The leaves and stems are green and healthy. If I snip off the dead flowers will new ones bloom this season?

New buds should form and flower. Be careful not to overwater...they prefer to be kept on the dry side. If the leaves are green then it sounds as if the plant is halthy enough. keep dead heading regularly and you should have a plant that will last for a good while.

Just had a thought....are they inside? They would prefer indirect sunlight if they are, and plenty of light.

Always dead head your blossoms. That puts more energy into the plant and increase the possibility of more blooms.
