Although I could be mistaken, the US will not host an F1 event next year. Hopefully, this issue will be resolved soon. I love F1. This is my first season following the gp and it has been unbelievable. As a matter of fact, I am a little late coming around to motorsports in general. At a very early age, I becaome obssessed with football, not the round kind but the oblong one. I still enjoy it, but, I must say it pales in comparison to autoracing. As it turns out, I really like NASCAR as well. It has been interesting to watch Juan Pablo's season progress. It kills a lot of Americans to see Montoya succed and then having the audacity to act like other NASCAR drivers like Tony Stewart. I relish in these moments. Someone will have to exlplain to me why NASCAR is not racing. To me, it seems as if it is a different type and style of racing. Side-by-side racing is pretty intense. Thje F1 announcers on SPEED sure do get a reved up when there is some side-by-side racing or a little contact. Thank goodness for SPEED. I am able to catch the last practice session, qualifying (F1 has NASCAR definitely beat on this one), and the race. All live. DVRs are also a nice thing to have. What can't we all just get along? No one is better than the other. As David Brent might say, "They are both excellent races." Have a good day, bloke.

Obviously some do; SPEED channel has LIVE coverage of the second Friday practice session at almost all the Grands Prix, as well as the Saturday qualifying session and the race. Even in Merry Olde England (where the majority of the teams are based), viewers don't get live coverage of either of the Friday practice sessions.
One other point, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course, arguably among the worst on the Formula One calendar, drew a larger race-day attendance than long-established Grands Prix such as the ones in Britain, France and Hungary and the vast majority of those in attendance were Americans, rather than that oft-related fallacy about them being overseas visitors.
This, of course isn't the response you wanted and I realize it has absolutely no chance of being chosen best, but I will cherish the two points for it and I would welcome a rebuttal, one with well-reasoned facts to back it up..

Americans have a huge bank of racing series to choose from, some of them more entertaining than the other.
I feel sorry for US F1 fans, if its as hard to watch F1 over there as it is to watch CART, NASCAR etc over here then you have double my sympathy. Add the fact the only US driver for years is a complete arsewipe, how do you market F1 to people who can't watch it and when they do its a contrived farce?!
I always thought F1 wrongly went to the US for marketing reasons first instead of sport, if it was for the racing then they should've gone to the less marketable but more race-worthy Laguna Seca-such a gorgeous racetrack (yes, scene of fatal accidents too). The sight of F1 cars going the wrong way round the Brickyard is a poor one and i don't blame the Yanks for not liking it, can you imagine NASCAR coming to Spa and going DOWN Eau Rouge?!!
Perish the thought!

What is this, Have a go at Americans week?
People who are interested in F1 come from every corner of the world.
If you are not interested in a particular sport then it stands to reason you would not know what it is all about.

stop being so rude. Just because the US have Nascar, which you don't like watching, that doesn't mean anything. Formula 1 is on a higher tier than Nascar, so what. Let those who like watching Nascar watch it and leave them alone. They are not stupid or lack the knowledge of the Formula 1 viewers.
I enjoy watching Formula 1. After reading this question and some of the replies, it seems like the F1 watchers are the ignorant people, not the Nascar watchers. GET OVER YOURSELF!!! STOP BEING SO STUCK-UP just because you watch only F1.

Yeah, they race things that look more like a jet than a car, and they race on tracks that make passing impossible, so the only way to win is to either qualify 1st, or wreck the competition. Do you know that these cars create so much down-force with their wings that at 120 mph they could actually run upside-down. So, with all of that said, how in the hell do they manage to wreck anyway...?

They have NASCAR, The IRL & Champ car's, why do they need F1? The last few year's F1 have been boring, if were lucky we'll see 2 cars racing for a few laps & thats it. The Yank's don't need F1, F1 needs America...............

Like all other sports, NO,
Cricket was too tough so they played rounders,
Rugby was too tough, so they wore padding and pass forward.
Football is too tough, so they let kids play under supervision.
F1 was too complicated, so they cut it down to 4 rounded corners.
They did invent basketball, wow! rocket science.
Americans have a habit of trashing anything they don't understand. How can a country be the only nation in the world to play a particular sport, and call their championships the world series?
good luck.

Of course we do. It is the one where they cant pass anyone, almost everything on the car is computer controlled, and full of rich spoiled drivers. I'd hate to leave out the race at Indy a few years ago where most of the field refused to run. Way to make an impression in a country that you have almost no following in.
JCam - Move to Canada. We won't miss you. You want to blame someone for losing the race blame your hero Bernie. He openly admits he doesn't want to race in the US. He went to Asia and the Middle East because they had more money. Its just that simple. Their governments pay for everything. Tony owns Indy and everything came out of his pocket. You figure out which one has more money.
