I'll try to explain this simply as English is not your first language...

Every time you do ANYTHING, you learn something about it. For example, if you play the piano evey day you will learn something every day about the piano - this is called practice.

When you go to a job interview you learn something about going to job interviews so even if you don't get the job, you have practiced.

So your friend means that you have not wasted your time and keep trying. If going to job interviews were a "waste" of your time, it would mean that nothing good came from it.

I hope this helps/

You are getting experience at fielding questions and generally speaking most of your interviewers have a set order of questions and basically there are a few that all will use to get a general feel to see if you fit their company . The more you interview will make it easier on you and eventually they will see and sense this and have a better liking for you to be hired.
