My little sister just got a black cat doll and she wants to name is Spooky. My grandfather told her not to because it is politically incorrect. I know is just a doll but I want to know why it is politically incorrect?

He is probably referring to the fact that "spook" is a slang reference to a black person.

Because black cats are usually associated with witches, witchcraft, bad luck, and general "spookiness". And this is supposed to be politically incorrect because black cats aren't really any of these things and it could offend other people with black cats.

Tell your sister to name the cat Spooky, everything seems to be politically incorrect these days.

These are derogatory names for black people. Some others are Jiggerboo, Uncle, Boy, N*****, Mammy, Sambo...

people used to call black people "spooks" back in the day. spooks are like witches and have a negative connotation aiming towards a scary type person.
