There's lots of craft groups out there on yahoo. Coming up with a name that's not been used is gonna be hard.
Kept In stitches might be good.
Hooked on knitting, or yarnbusters, or crafty peeps, maybe?
To make a group, you have to make a mission statement of what the group is about, what the do's and don'ts are, how to get accepted into the group, and all other kinds of things.
I thought the person who made the group was the moderator, because they are the one in charge of keeping it up. The moderator has to monitor and make sure the rules are followed and make sure that if there are any technical problems yahoo knows about them, and fixes them.
I belong to some groups. I don't want to run one. Too time consuming.

I would suggest Traditional Knitting, Happy Hookers(crochet group). Those are the two I'm with so yeah. They are awesome! You would have moderators which is the best way to go, is joining an exsisting group.

I would join an existing group, unless I was going to do something that is so different that the existing groups would not except it.

If you start a new group you will not need moderators till you have more than 25 members, or find that you get spammers.
At first better keep everything in your own hands.
Only choose mods from the membership after you got to know them.

i own a yahoo crochet group and its not hard at all. the hardest thing for me is getting people to participate. i have 2 moderators. one is in charge when i am not there and the other keeps up the database and bouncing members. but for the most part i am the boss. i love having my own list but would suggest joining a few to get a feel for how they work if you are unfamiler with them.

First, consider *why?*

Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/ and do a search for groups of type you desire.

If there are already some or even many, look at them to see which are active and if you still want to create another group rather than join a pre-existing one.

If you don't see any, that doesn't mean that they aren't there, it just means that you could organize the first readily-accessible one.

Possible groups:
"knitting & crochet in [geographic area]"
"knitting & crochet by [religious, ethnic or sexual minority group]"

should start a stitch n b*tch yahoo group for your area and meet once a week. that is what my group does. we tend to talk more since we actually know each other and other people who can't come to the group meetings just talk to us and they do stop by when they do come in town or on vacation.

being waiting to grasp a craft and be attentive to all approximately it, the supplies to apply, the thank you to furnish instructions to make it, is as plenty a present from God as being waiting to examine his notice the bible from Genesis to Revelation and how it suits jointly merely as each and every stitch made ib stitching. Acts 9:36-40-one.

There are so many already there, you simply will be overlooked by too many people.

I would go with an existing one, and even a good portion of those are very inactive.

Good luck.
