i got a dell laptop with windows xp. i get sound from everything but the internet? everything is on.. what now

check the internet options. all sound should be on. when i play regular mp3, dvd, or wmv files i get sound but no sound on the Net

In IE click Tools then Internet Options on the Advanced tab scroll to Mulimedia and check Play sounds in webpages and whatever else you want.
