I'm wondering which is yr planet of origin. You must be an extraterrestrial alien if you ignore that's exactly the contrary. Aside the fact Italian National team has won 4 World championships of soccer (and just Brazil did it better) and still in soccer our U21 National Team has the major number of victories in the European Championship, really many other Italian National teams performing other sports have won important International (and not National as you've posted...!!) competitions. In the past 15 years our Men National Volley Team has won a lot of times the World League, the Olympic games, the European Championship and other important titles. This can't be cancelled by the fact in the last event we didn't reach the final round.....!! Last Sunday our women National volley team has won the European Championship and our cycling team with Paolo Bettini has repeated the success of last year in the World championship and it was not the first time our athletes, supported by our National Team, have won in the cycling. The women cycling National last Saturday has contributed to the victory of Marta Bastianelli. Really a lot of other successes have been obtained more or less recently in different sports like water polo, basket, fencing, rowing, swimming, tennis, gym, and I'm sure something is escaping to my memory.
I totally disagree your question posted like it was the Bible.
Don't forget that Italy has just 60 millions of inhabitants and I don't know how many Nations can have the same proportion teams victories / people !! This counts too....!!

if Italy are under performing the times they have won world cup and getting 2 semi finals god help the rest of us
