Go to http://www.cpuip.com and download CPU-Z 1.41 It is a small file. When the program downloads, it will be compressed. Just click on the exe file and then extract the data. Run the program, and give it a little time to scan your system. When it's done it will tell you what type and kind of processor your have, what type of ram and it's size, etc.

You are not only interested in the processor type but also the "socket" type. The processor that you buy must fit the socket that is installed on your mobo.
