i have a dell all in one printer just installed and when i try to print it says that there is no ink cartrige?

it is a new dell all in one 810 new ink and it says no ink cartrige inserted

This may sound silly, but did you remove the tape from the back and bottom of the new cartridges? And, is the cartridge compartment lid closed?

Have you actually got any cartridges in there?
are they clicked in properly?
