Nov 10, 1985, Detriot, MI. The Detroit Concert Band led by Leonard B Smith in an all-Sousa concert at the Armory (re-named for the occaision Sousa Gardens). Of course Stars and Stripes Forever concluded the program. Paid over 500 bucks for that weeknight concert with airfare from LAX. Had to be back at work the next day. John Philip Sousa is my musical Hero.

Ike and Tina Turner. She absolutely took it over the top! The most exciting concert I ever attended. And I saw the Stones (yawn, it was mechanical and no encores), Three Dog Night (great but way too loud), Seals and Croft (excellent and in a small venue), Chicago and many others.

Mine was watching Elvis in his prime. He sang like he was
singing to each individual in the audience. I also saw his
last farewell performance when he showed he was sick on
stage and got out of breath easy. I could barely stand to
watch him suffering. That was my first inkling he wasn't well.
And he died three months later.
I saw Pink Floyd for my first concert and they did "Inna godda davida", and brought the house down. But Elvis was
still the more memorable during the middle years of his career to me.

Silly me. I thought you meant a real concert, like what the symphonies or orchestras give.

I've never been to a rock concert. I've never wanted to. Carry on without me on this one.

Oh, wait. I did see Ferrante and Teicher in a performance with our local Pops Symphony, and we did see a Roger Whitaker performance. Would either of those redeem me?

Mine was Chicago--at Indiana State University in Terre Haute. For a group that had a reputation for doing no encores, they did three that night.

It would be a three-way tie.
Neil Diamond.
Elton John without backup, just him at the piano. (a very nice person who relates with the audience). I am amazed.
Rod Stewart.

I lot more I can recall but these are the best.
