The set that contains all the possible subset of a given set is called a power set.

The power set contains 2^n elements where n is the number of elements in the set that you are taking the power set of.

n = 4 in your case.
so the number of subsets is 2^4 = 16

Raise 2 to the power of number of elements in the set.
