So if the Indians and the Angels end up with the same record at the end of the day...the Indians would get to face the Wild Card (Yanks) ?

Isn't the regular season tied between the Indians and the Angels 5-5?

so how was Cleveland given the edge already and the game is set on Thursday between Yanks and Indians?

On-paper tiebreaking has further options if the first one, head to head record, doesn't resolve the issue.

The second method is intradivisional record, and the Indians did a better job beating up the Central than the Angels did the West.

Ergo, Cleveland gets the #2 seed.

If neither Division winner tied for the highest winning percentage is from the same Division as the Wild Card:
A tiebreaker system will be used to determine which Division winner with the best record plays the Wild Card.

The first tiebreaker will be head-to-head competition between the two Clubs during the championship season. IF THE CLUBS REMAIN TIED, THEN THE TIED CLUB WITH THE HIGHER WINNING PERCENTAGE IN INTRADIVISION GAMES DURING THE SEASON. If the Clubs remain tied, then the tied Clubs with the higher winning percentage in intraleague games during the championship season. If the Clubs remain tied, then the tied Club with the higher winning percentage in the last half of intraleague games during the championship season. If the Clubs remain tied, then the tied Club with the higher winning percentage in the last half plus one of intraleague games during the championship season. This process will be followed game-by-game until the tie is broken.

So I think Indians have a better record, because they went 47-24 in their division and the Angels went 32-24 in their division (THE SECOND TIE-BREAKER)

RED SOX will beat the Angels and the Indians will beat the Yankees, so what happens in the Regular season isn't going to matter in the Postseason.
