Say I need a securities lawyer and don't know anyone who can refer one to me. How can I find a decent lawyer? Picking one randomly sounds like a stupid idea, but I'm not quite sure what other choice I have.

Are there any resources on the Internet I can turn to?

First, check the state bar website to see if the lawyer has ever been disciplined, suspended or disbarred
Second, check out Martindale Hubbel on the internet or the library. It will say if the lawyer is rated "A", "B", or "C"
Finaly get input by word of mouth
The worst source to rely on are yellow pages, newspaper, tv, or radio ads
