An ingrediant in some cough syrups, Guaifenesin, is used to help liquify mucus and apparently some believe that it will help make their cervical mucus more liquidy, such as the watery and eggwhite cervical mucus that is considered fertile CM. The sperm can't live long enough in dry CM, and it makes it harder for the sperm to swim up to the ovulating egg. Even if you were to use cough syrup to aid in conception you would still need to be ovulating. I think it could be a good idea for women who don't ever see eggwhite CM or are usually dry around ovulation.

theory is that is makes your cervical mucus thinnner, just as it does for chest congestive mucus. But I don't know if its been proven.
