I've read that after a miscarriage you should wait 3-6 months or whatever your doctor tells you to start trying again. Does anyone have a physical reason why? I know your mind needs time to heal, but physically, what is the risk? I just had a miscarriage and feel fine physically. I didn't have to get a D&C or anything, I passed it naturally. I don't want to wait to start trying, but I don't want another miscariage either.

I have heard the reason why you wait, is your body is recoup rating from the passing of the past baby. i miscarried in Dec. 2006 and got pregnant again in Feb. And I have been find. i think it si different for each woman. Also i have heard that you are at higher risk to miscarry again, if you get pregnant right away after the first one. If you did not have a D&C then I suspect you will be fine. But I would defiantly talk it over with your doctor. Also here is a good website that has some ifo you will be intrested in.

When you miscarry, esp. since no D & C was done, the uterus sheds the tissue irregularly, thus leaving bits and pieces to be shed within a cycle or two. Trying to have another baby right away might cause an implantation on this tissue that is trying to shed off and you would be setting yourself up for ANOTHER miscarriage. So, do what your doctor says and wait until your uterus has completely shed the tissue it needs to shed. When you have a normal period as before pregnancy, you can try again, but do NOT try in the very next cycle or you will be setting yourself up for failure.

if you have an early miscarrage (6-8 weeks) and pass the pregnancy tissue naturally than you can feel safe trying again after your first menstrual cycle. The more advanced a pregnancy, the longer you need to heal. I lost a baby at 19 weeks and had to have a D&E (much more invasive than a d&c), we were told to wait 6 months to try again.

Deeply sorry for your lose. If your doctor recommends waiting, I would listen to him/her. I'm no doctor, but it makes sense to me that you need time to heal both physically and mentally after such an event. Your miscarriage was NOT the same as your period. Something else went south for you miscarry! Wait a bit, then go for it. Good luck!

I think you have to wait because your insides have to have time to heal and bring itself back together.
