I currently live in Canada and I am planning on moving to England. It is a very hard decision to make and i need plenty of help. I visited about 2-3 times a year from when I was 5-15 years old because we have many friends there. I love the country, however, I am worried about the crime rate. Is it very high in enlgand? If so what parts are the most dangerous and what parts are the safest?
Also, i am wondering about the cost to live there. I am still very young and I know I will struggle there until I find a career but is it too difficult? How much should I save up?
Thridly, Are the cotswolds too boring to live in? Would you recommend that i live closer to London? Are jobs hard to find in the cotswolds? What is Suri like?
Finally if anyone here lives in Enlgand can you tell me your experiences? Do you feel safe there? Do you enjoy living there?
Thankyou so much!

I am English and now live in Canada. The cost of living here is a lot lower than England for most things.
Generally speaking the closer you are to London the more expensive it is to live. The crime rate depends upon where you live. It is lower than USA so I guess it is similar to Canada. There is far less open space in England. Depending on you age you might be able to get a one year work permit to try out living there.
I prefer living in Canada but I only came here in February.

I am English and want to move to Canada!

I live in the South East, about 40 miles from London in the countryside - but it is VERY expensive where I live.
Unless you have a specific reason to want to live near London, then my advice is DONT. It is becoming very busy all over the South East and the government are building more and more homes - it's becoming far too overcrowded for my liking to be honest.
I would recommend the South West, or maybe North East, etc.
Crime really depends where you live... where I live there is VERY little crime, but in the cities crime rates are obviously higher.
It shouldn't be too hard to find a career, but it depends what you're education and qualifications are.

My experiences of England are: I have found the last 10 years or so it has become much more overcrowded where I live here in the South East, noise polution is very bad with all the cars, people, etc. Crime in my opinion has been increasing, with teenage yobs controlling our towns and cities. It is very expensive to live here, with house prices absolutely insane here... I do love the countryside, and the English pubs and people though, which I know I will miss when/if I emigrate in the future.

If you are really thinking about emigrating to the UK, then I would advice you to come and live here for 12 months or so as a trial - maybe on a work permit or something similar to see if you like it.

Crime is low (Over hyped by the media, trust me i'm from Hackney)
Costwolds are boring

Lets put it this way, your young and idealogical, your not going too move over here, because you cant just come over and sit on the dole....you need an education, most immigrants here have either asylum or EU membership, or are skilled workers.....first become one of those, then it will be easy.....

But get a few years behind you first...

or maybe your family is rich....

if it were up too me there would be no countries and this would be 'Planet Earth'

but its not up too me....so...you know

good luck though

Cost of living there higher! better to rent or let a place, if going to London try Chelsea area seemed more friendly.
don't really need car! has better transit system than U.S. costs just as much to train and bus it..subways cool..
other towns like Nottingham are cool too.seems spread out? like phoenix.
