I do have a daughter, just a son and he is 32 going on 33, but if I had a daughter, I think it would be OK if I had the password for your account and I could monitor things. I would not want to spy so much as be informed. I would want to know about people you chat with in a chat room. Watch the MSNBC programs on "To Catch a Predator" about older guys (I've yet to see a woman) and kids (boys and girls) online. The men coming over to a house where they think a boy or girl of age 12-14 is absolutely astounding, running the gamut which includes but is not limited to members of the clergy, military, school teachers, you name it, and these men think there is nothing wrong with a 40 year old man with a 12 year old boy or girl. As a father myself, I would want to know what you were doing to maybe avoid having you fall into the trap these predators set. If I was informed, if you talked to me, I would feel much better about things on Myspace. This may not apply to the way your father feels, but just remember, he is trying to protect you from the predators out there. I do not think not letting you use Myspace is a punishment. Speaking personally as a father, you being a sophomore is STILL an age problem and for your father will be a problem until the day one of you dies... I don't think any father thinks his daughter is "old enough". At least, that was the way of it with my father and my 3 sisters...

Are you willing to allow your parents to "view" your My Space page. If so, I don't see any reason a responsible person shouldn't have their own page.
Tell you Dad that I am a 63 year old computer tech who has a grown Daughter and has trusted the lady all of her life. I think this is one of the reasons that she has turned into such a fine young woman. I am very proud of her. Also, there wasn't anything in her life that we couldn't talk out. There were time when I supervised her activities until I was satisfied that all was well and she was "safe" We Dads worry about you Daughter types allot. I guess it just comes along with the territory.
Talk it out with Mr. Dad, I bit you can work things out.
Good luck.

just say I will be responsible online and won't give out personal information, then your dad will most likely let you get MySpace. BUT if he doesn't let you ask him if you can get facebook. It's much safer than MySpace. I'm sure you will be allowed to get facebook. =D
