I'm 12 years old. I take ballet and jazz, I just started ballet this year. I'm not fat, but I'm not as thin as I'd like. I'm 4'10 (a shorty, yes) and 93 lbs. I have a lot of muscle, but I have fat (mostly legs) covering it up. I'd really like to weigh 80 lbs. I need something I can do in my own home.

A healthy woman should have roughly between 15 and 25% body fat. A dancer or an athlete can get away with a LITTLE bit less but it is dangerous and unhealthy to go too lean.

If you want to lose weight then there are dozens of exercises that you can do. Aerobic exercise (where you increase and maintain an elevated heart rate) is the best.

You can buy various machines but thats not necessary. I like doing step ups where I step up onto a chair and back down and repeat for 15-20 minutes at a time. Since you are a little shorter than me I would suggest something smaller than a chair but you get the idea.

You sound like a fine weight to me. I'm 5'3 105 lbs. I'm way too thin. If you're wanting to lose weight..ballet is a great way to do that. All you have to do is dance and it'll go in no time. I have trouble over the summers when I don't dance. I gain a good 10 lbs or so. But a couple of weeks after I start back up it's all gone plus some. But try not to lose too much. that can lead to some serious problems.

Dont worry about your weight if anything you should be gaining and you will. Dancers have alot alot alot of muscle which adds weight.Try just working on tightening your muscles, and if its your leg muscles your worried about just keep up with your ballet, they will tighten in no time. Spend as much in-studio or practice time that you can. and continue your ballet warmups outside of class.

Dance is very demanding expecially when you are in more then one class but if you are under weight your body wont be able to keep up with your demands of a dancer and along with not giving it your best your hurting yourself and the rest of your class. 80lbs is really far to skinny. You are at a perfect weight for your age and height. there will always be someone that is skinner then you but you need to consider the long run. My teachers always told me "a healthy dancer is a happy-hard working dancer. A unhealthy dancer is just a temp."

I hope I helped.

Sweetie, not to be mean but that really is not fat. In most cases that is probably going to be muscle, especially since your a dancer. And muscle weighs more then fat so if you've got even alittle muscle on you then your going to weigh alittle more.

Just dance, try hard and have fun. Your size should NEVER matter! And like somebody said if your dancing and eatting healthy then your fine.

If you do ballet every week than you WILL lose ALOT ALOT again ALOT of weight. Also start dancing to disney tapes or tapes. GOOD LUCK! Also xut down on the sweets, if you eat any. Exercise and diet! 2 propsectives on weight or losing it. It is much easier to put on that lose or put off! Good luck!

just practicing dance even after your class is over will help alot, because dance is actually rigorous exercise. also elliptical machines are good exercise (they are kind of like running except without the impact) i have one in my house but almost every health club has them as well. if you have a trampoline that's also surprisingly good exercise and it's fun too.

If you're so worried about your weight, you should talk to your dance teacher. She'll tell you if you need to loose weight or not. If she says you don't then just keep working hard. If she says you do then you could do sits ups and workouts on TV, those should help! Good Luck!
