again tell me where in the code you find this,, some folks say it is not in the code

I am having fun.
The receptacle should be placed with the nuteral slot in the up possion. That is --- large slot up^.
The reason is. If there is a metal plate cover on the outlet becomes loose and falls while an appliance is plugged in, the top prong would come in contact with the metal plate cover. We don't want the hot prong to touch the metal cover, now do we. If you touch the cover you could get shocked.
This is in the grounding section of the code.

Mounted properly, the ground would be to the left. Vetically, the ground would be to the bottom. Vertically, the common would be to the right. Horizonally as described above, the common would be to the bottom.

it is not NEC how it is mounted pure preference
