i once read a book that pyramids can stop things from rotting.

Nope. Nor do they keep razors sharp. But you could have tried it yourself and found that out. Just make a pyramid out of paper, cut up an apple, and put half in the pyramid, half outside. Sure, it's not quite as exposed to the elements inside, but that's it. No 'pyramid power' here.

Mummies are preserved in Egyptian pyramids because they were embalmed and sealed in stone, with dry, unchanging air, a constant temperature, and with no access to worms, insects, or even bacteria. It has nothing to do with the shape, which is used for visual effect, structural integrity, and relatively impervious to tampering.
