A placement test is not a pass or fail test. It is a test that accesses your current skills in the areas of math, English, reading comprehension, writing skills, and sometimes other topics science being one of those. My colleges doesn't address sciences, but some might. This test is there for your benefit. If you take a class that is beyond your current level, you will have a lot of difficulty, and may fail the class. If you take a class that is lower than you need to be in you may be bored, and may fail the class simply because you don't feel like doing the work. By taking the placement exam you will find out what classes you are most suited for. However, you will have to talk to a counselor to get your placement results in most colleges, I know everyone Ive ever talked to has had to.

The placement test just lets the college know which class to start you in so you aren't too bored or too far behind. You won't "fail" it, you just might end up in a more general class if you've never taken that subject before. If you did take those classes in high school, then the school may just look at the class and your grade and place you without you having to take a test. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. If you want, you can study for it (IF you even have to take a test), but it's best to be well-rested and nourished for a test so that you can think clearly about the questions.
Good luck!

You will have to talk to an adviser because depending on your school your placement test could be putting you in the level class you need or doing what mine did and determining it through your SAT score. Failing the test just means that you will take a refresher course where you have to attain a certain grade before you are allowed to take your bio/chem course. Every college is different you really do have to get in the habit of going to your adviser.

Honey, you CAN'T expect an accurate answer without seeing a school counselor because every community college is different! If I told you all about the placement test at Onondaga Community College here in upstate New York and it turned out to be very different from where you plan to go, you'd be pretty upset with me, now wouldn't you? And hon, I can GUARANTEE you they'll be different! So call the college and ask, dammit!

I know you don't want advisor answers, but as I've been goin through these pages I've noticing that you have been posting alot of questions around the same general subject, within the past 11 hours under two different names. I can only deduce that you must be seriously stressed out about this and you are not going to find an answer that will specifically fit you. You need to relax, go talk to your advisor and ask her all the questions you have been asking on yahoo answers. Because that is the only way you are going to get answers that fit you and totally apply to your situation, otherwise you are just goin to continue posting on yahoo answers and stressing until you go crazy.

A placement test is a sort of test that will determine whether you will make the class or not. If you fail the test, you are screwed and need to try to retake it, study with different sources the next time. Talk to your parents too. Good luck!
