Since the last time I answered your question you whined and had it reported and removed, I'll try to be nice so that I do not upset your delicate feelings.
While your opinion on the Republican Party's chances sound good to YOU, you fail to look at the whole picture. That being the fact that many Dems are pushing the slogan "Anyone but Hillary." Judging by the polls, Hillary is exactly who they are going to get.
I do not feel that President Bush has any bearing whatsoever on this election. I think that, when it comes down to it, Dems don't have a platform outside of "We'll give you things for free." Most of the people who ACTUALLY vote see through that.
I feel that your opinion is based on ignorance, not facts.
So, in closing (and just so there's no mistake in my answers)
A. No, President Bush has not made it impossible for Republicans to win the presidency in 2008.
B. No, Powell is not the only Republican who has a chance. Fred Thompson is going to mop the floor with Hillary.

The tricks and smear campaigns that put Bush in office are not likely to work this time - so yes.
Republicans will be lucky if Bush does not have another crony-staffed failure before the next elections. FEMA is not the only government agency that has been rendered incompetent.

they can say something stupid and get elected-
after Vietnam they said we could have won if we just had more time. now we're in Vietnam 2: Iraq and they will use that same line.
they also get to run on the fact that the gov is messed up and imeffective- when they make a mistake it doesn't hurt them, it only enforces their beliefs

The only Rep who could win right now would be Eisenhower. And HE's not running either!

Well.... knowing the Democrats knack for screwing things up, no. If the Dems don't win in '08, they have no business being a political party.

If Bush does nothing to further harm the Republican's image, voting Republican is still the way to go.
