I have an Xbox 360 downstairs, and the ethernet cord they give you in the box is not long enough so i have purchased a longer one. I'm wondering if I can directly hook it into my linksys router by my computer. Or, does this need to be plugged into a wall ethernet cord. Because when I did this before (into the router) I could not connect do to a problem with the MTU.

You should be able to go from router to 360. Sometimes you need to power cycle your router to get it to connect.

ya turn off router, all pcs, xbox, etc. plug the ethernet into an open port on the router, and into the 360. turn router, xbox, etc. on. wired connection, using an ethernet cable as described, is most likely a lot cheaper than going wireless. the wireless adapter for xbox is very expensive from what i have heard. good luck
