The following are some of the newer connection options that you might want to investigate:
* Cable Internet—These systems allow your computer to connect to the Internet through the same cable that carries your TV signal. Monthly service charges are usually not much more than standard modem connection costs, but you have to rent or purchase a "cable modem." Additionally, your computer will need an Ethernet card (a special circuit board that allows for network connections). Not all cable service operators offer this service; call your local operator for more information.
* Satellite connections—DirecPC (http://www.direcpc.com/) allows you to download Internet files via a satellite connection. This is an efficient method for receiving large Web graphics and other items, but you still need a modem connection for other features. You must purchase the connection hardware as well as subscribe to the service.
* Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN)—An ISDN line is a type of digital phone line that can transmit data many times faster than a conventional modem and phone line. To learn more about ISDN, go to http://www.isdn.ocn.com/index.shtml
* Wireless connections—Pagers, cellular phones and personal digital assistants (PDAs) now allow varying levels of Internet access, from notification of E-mail to limited Web connections. Many of these services remain in the experimental stage.
* WebTV—Introduced in late 1996, WebTV (http://www.webtv.net/) provides Web and E-mail access through ordinary television sets. The connection is made through a custom high-speed modem. You must purchase a special set-top unit for your TV, plus subscribe to the connection service. Recently, similar systems by other manufacturers have appeared on the market to compete with WebTV.

Does she have a wireless router? You can tell by the little antennae on it; if it has one, then it's wireless; if not then you will have to buy a wireless one.
I recommend buying a "modem/router", you can buy them separately but it's so much more convenient to have a combination one. Make sure that whatever one you buy is a "G" type rather than the old "B" type (just look for the letter G in the name) because they are more reliable and have better signal strenth. I think the Linksys ones are the cheapest.
You will also need to buy a wireless network card for your computer. To install the card you will probably have to install the software first (check the instructions in the manual) and then put the card in. The wireless network card goes into one of the PCI slots (the white ones); open the case, make sure you have a spare slot, then insert the card - make sure it's pushed in firmly and squarely.
But if you have a laptop, check that it doesn't already have a built in wireless network card (many newer laptops have them as standard); you normally have to turn it on by flicking a little switch at the front of the laptop (a little orange light will come on).
To connect to the wireless router you need the password; open the wireless utility (it's a little piece of software that comes with the card), select the network and type in the password.

You must ask the query, "what transformed 2 weeks in the past" If your new apparatus has been mounted considering then and does now not transparent the trouble them it's certainly some thing else. I had issues with my connection and ultimately observed it used to be very nearby and because of the principal mobile jack being hit through the vacuum purifier. Result used to be an intermittent connection. That solved I had a different hindrance while the nearby alternate grew to be overloaded and began to drop traces, primarily in dangerous climate. So in my case it used to be a connection and continuity of line trouble.

2>Buy new (wireless and router feature) dsl modem. But both computers need to go wireless (using usb wireless device or pci wireless card) or only your computer while your cousin can access via cable.
3> use your old dsl modem & buying Wireless Acess Point device (it is similar to dsl thing i.e. box with antenna coming out which you connect to your dsl modem). If your cousin DSL modem is WIFI (wireless), and your computer is a desk top model, all you will need is a wireless or WIFI card for your computer. They are not expensive. You can find them at Staples, Office Depot, Wal Mart, etc. Or you can order one off of the web. Follow the instruction that come with the card on how to install the card and how and when to install the software. Usually with WIFI cards, the software must be installed first.
Remember, your cousin must be set up to operate with a wireless signal. If she isn't, then you will need to purchase a WIFI router and set it up at her machine. It will broadcast the signal to you.
