Help. Being a lazy untidy male who now lives alone as my ex wife threw me out and my mum is dead, I am not used to using hoovers at home but I have got a Henry vacuum cleaner and the seller sold 5 bags with it. But after the first bag got full and I dumped it I found it impossible to find out how to insert one of the new bags being thick about that sort of thing. So as my house was getting a bit grubby I therefore left the bag out and switched on and found it worked brilliantly! I note on another recent Yahoo Answer some said emptying bagless vaccuum cleaners is bad news But when emptying time came around I put a boiler suit on and took it outside and empted it in bin and then had a bath which I needed anyway then carried on using it. So no problem whatsoever. So is there any reason why I need to put a bag in? I mentioned it to somebody at work who thinks that if you use a Henry without a bag it will blow up? Is that true?

You need to minimise the amount of dust around the motor for obvious reasons.

The bag is awkward to put on, I grant you. Kneel with the nozzle towards you. It helps to loosen the rubber membrane and slightly inflate the paper bag. Using the cardboard handle pull it on to the nozzle until fully home.

Henry bags are available in supermarkets.

When students used a Henry left for them without a bag, it broke and we were told by the shop that dust had damaged the motor. Now we put a notice in the properties to say they will be charged for repair if bags are not used. Bags are cheaper than the repair!

I have had a Henry Hoover for years and haven't used a bag for years and it is fine. I think you find a lot of Company's use Henrys without bags too!

Certainly the modern henry's can be used without bags, we use them every day, 3 - 10 times a day, no problems.

Have never ever used a bag in our Henry - but he does get used for dirty work really. Cars and DIY stuff. Just don't inhale when you dump the dust in the wheely bin!

it is better if you use the bag cos eventuly the dust will clog up your machine and you will have a bigger expence to get it repair. the bag is there for a reason.
