I just wrote this for someone else, so I hope you're not running against each other! HAHA!
Here you go!

Tell the students that you want to be a member of the student council because you want to become involved in all aspects of the school and student life.

Tell them you believe that you would be best for the student council executive because you're a responsible student who has the best interest of not only the school but the students at heart as well.

Tell them you want to grow into a leader and that you need their help in order to do that. Let them know that a vote for you is a vote in the right direction and one in which they won't regret.

Tell them you look forward to the exciting year ahead and hope to work with other members of the student council to make sure that it is the best year EVER at the school.

Check with your advisor to see if they'll let you throw candy to the crowd at the end of the speech. That way you'll throw off the other candidates and the students will be more worried about your candy than the next speaker.

Don't share your speech with other candidates. Don't share anything with anyone else- because at the last moment- someone may be under pressure and steal your idea before you get the chance to use it.

Do you have a school cheer? If so- throw that in.

Make up a catchy slogan and throw it in there somewhere as well.

Look everyone in the eyes as you speak. (Practice the speech at least a dozen times.) Speak clear, slowly and be animated. Good/cute/funny posters always help. AND candy is always a sure fire winner.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!

First of all, you can read your speech or memorize it. In the speech you should make the following points: Why should the student body vote for you? What do you want to accomplish as a member of student council? What changes do you want to make? How will you go about it? Be sensible, you can't shorten the school day or eliminate subjects. But you CAN suggest creating clubs or teams, changing the menu in the cafeteria, going on more field trips, bringing in outside speakers on various subjects, etc. What is your own experience and interests? How will they help to make the school better? Listen to a few speeches by presidential candidates on tv and you'll see how they go about trying to get votes. Speak forcefully as if you mean it and good luck.

You are right, you have to write what you would do if you were elected and why people should elect you. This is a great opportunity for people to get to know you and your passion for the job.

Sit and reflect as to why you want to be the winner, what it will mean for you, for your school, see yourself doing the job.... What does that look like, what is good about it and why should other people vote for that. You could even frame your speech after the futre. The great speeches in the world have been foward looking.... Don't use "I have a dream" that will make you lose right away.

Start something like this, "When I close my eyes and really try to see what I can do for this school I can barely keep in my seat. Our future is exciting! Etc.... create a scene in their head that excites them about the future you see...but sadly, they will vote for the person who they think is the coolest.

a couple suggestions
when writing dont say "If I am elected I will do this" say "When I Am elected I will do this" you sound more secure
Dont make promises you cant keep everyone else does it so you look better if you admit it is not possible
Talk about what you would do that was not done last year

My guess is its about making people want to vote for you... I think you should write about how you would make the school better, but whatever you do don't lie. You will have some unhappy campers!
