They won't give it to you at the post office.they only do the passport express post. if you take your tickets into the passport office, they do it there and then for you you bout you'll have a bit of a wait it's usually packed

The Passport Office
Molesworth Street
PO Box 9718
Co. Dublin

Applying in person
The Passport Offices in Dublin and Cork are open from 9.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. These Offices normally provide provides a 10 day issuing service. However, if you find that you have left your application late and require a passport in less than 10 days you must apply in person to the Dublin or Cork Office. In such cases it is important that your application is correct and that you also bring proof of travel, eg internet booking or travel tickets. Depending on the urgency an additional Urgent Processing fee may be payable.

Please note - If you have lost your passport or are a first time applicant you must allow 10 working days for the issue of your passport as all such applications must be thoroughly checked before being approved.

The Dublin and Cork Offices are closed at weekends but an emergency service is available outside office hours at the telephone numbers given here. An administrative fee is charged for this emergency service.

Go to the main passport office I think in Molesworth Street(check phone book). If you go to the Post Office they will just send them off the passport office which will take 10 days, this will mean express delivery and cost more money. IMPORTANT....ensure that your passport photo is perfect they are very fussy!

Enjoy your hols!

first of all you need to go to the passport office not the post office!....the fastest you can get a passport done is in a week & you have to personally go to the passport office yourself with it....alternatively you can use the passport express option in the post office, which for a small extra fee will send out your passport in 10 working days instead of the usual 6 -7 weeks.....

Go to the police station, get the documents, make absolutely sure you get them to stamp and sign whatever they need to on the form in your LOCAL police station. If you are very lucky (like I was) they might do it in the one in town. Go to the passport office on Molesworth street (take a left at Easons on Nassau street and then the first left, walk for another 2 mins, crossing a small crossroads, and it will be on your left), don't expect any of the employees to be in any way polite or even civil to you....return to pick up the passport in 10 days

Good luck

you can get a passport issued really quickly if you go straight into the passport office early in the morning bring your flight tickets or print out and all the photos forms birth cert etc, im not sure if you will get it exactly that day if so it will be in the evening
but if not the next morning
my advice is do it asap

Better to go directly to the passport office on Molesworth Street with your travel documents, as someone else has answered.
