Depends on what your looking for.

Reno:
Less Traffic, easier to get around.
Smaller city, but things are more spread out.
Hate flying in there, lots of turbulence when you come up over the mountains and come in for the final approach.
Not a lot of new casinos
Snow, Snow, Snow...Ski, Ski, Ski

Vegas
Much bigger.
A lot more traffic.
Can take 30 - 45 min to get from one side of the strip to the other depending on the day of the week and time of day.
Newer casinos.
More choices.
Housing is cheaper.
Better night clubs.

Just depends, do you like big city or small town.

for what purpose? I lived in LV for 9 years and I lived in Carson City and Lake Tahoe- both very near Reno- for 12 years. For living, I absolutely, positively choose the Reno area. I personally would also choose the whole area for vacationing and gambling, too. But, if you're looking for off the wall excitement and adult entertainment then go to Las Vegas. I don't care if I ever see the place again, though- I hate it now!

VEGAS!!
Reno was once a great spot too, but is really not what it once was.
There is so much more to do in Vegas for the non gambler.
Not much in Reno.
However, if you want a smaller less beehive experience, Reno is where to go.
If you want better winter weather Vegas is it.
Hmm, its up to you, and what your looking for.

Reno. It's smaller, there are still a variety of casinos, and there is other stuff to do besides gamble. If you go there, be sure to visit Carson City and Lake Tahoe.
