I live in two houses, and want to get xbox live gold subscription. Does it go through the ip address not allowing more than one. What im asking is do i need to buy two subscriptions, one for each house or does it just recognize me xbox and allow me to play from both hosues.............as a side question, is it true that by setting up a gamertag you get a free 3 months of xbox live gold?

You do not need 2 subscriptions of xbox live gold. This is what will happen. You play in house 1 and then you finish. When you go to house 2 you select the "Recover Gamertag" button on the xbox 360 guide menu. This will transfer your gamertag from house 1 to house 2. You can keep doing the same thing every time you go back and forth. Buying 2 subscriptions wont actually work.

To answer your other question, that is false. When I set up my initial account they gave me one month free, but that was the first month that xbox 360 was out.

You usually need free 3 month card to get the free 3 months. I think you can transfer accounts around thru a xbox memory card. Look at this:
