Don't remove it. It has multiple functions:

1) It is a sign of sexual maturity. Women know that a man with pubic hair is old enough to have sex and father a child.
2) prevents chafing, so keeps you more comfortable
3) provides warmth in cold weather and helps air circulate to keep you cool in summer.
4) Most important, keeps air circulating to prevent possibly dangerous infections, both fungal and bacterial, which thrive in moist areas with poor air circulation. These infections can also cause foul odors, even if they are not yet established enough to cause a rash.
5) can stimulate the clitoris during sex.

Trimmed hair can allow some air circulation, but the blunt tips can irritate both your skin and your partner's skin. The naturally tapered ends of untrimmed hair are silky and don't poke.

It can actually stop you getting some infections down there like I think fungal infections, by absorbing moisture. So I would say removing it isn't a great idea (plus it itches, you get stubble and some people don't like the look of it) but it's not life-threatening so whatever floats your boat.

Pubic hair provides a cushioning effect when males and females have sexual intercourse. Nature provides us with what we need. Society, as embodied by Madison Avenue, is opposed to nature and finds ways to persuade people to spend money on fads, such as shaving.

There is nothing wrong with trimming or shaving the pubes. Try trimming them down instead of shaving to about a quarter inch and shave the balls. The look is clean and the feeling is great.
