Ron Paul seems to be the only candidate which will do something about the borders and end the war. Voting to continue the war will eventually lead to high taxes to pay for it.

Steve I won't pretend like im a military and politic expert for Iraq but how many more years do you need to have before realizing those goals may not ever be reached?

Ron Pau is extremely naive and will never be elected. He does not have an adequate base to support him.

I don't know how realistic those goals are. What would be the consequences for the Iraqi people if the troops were brought home? If experts on the issue tell us it would result in greater genocide and carnage, that is a good reason to not end the occupation. And you could not reduce spending or cut taxes with the war still going on. I'm not saying that we should not end the war, only look at the consequences. If we realistically believe withdrawing our forces will make Iraq more peaceful, we should do so. But if it will make Iraq worse we should not. These are questions which need to be studied in great detail.

In any case there are a lot of candidates besides Ron Paul who favors withdrawing the troops as soon as possible. Ron Paul may be the only Republican candidate who favors this, but not the only candidate.

Also, not granting amnesty is another goal which may not be realistic. The only plausible solutions to illegal immigration are likely going to involve granting amnesty. But again, this is something which needs to be studied in detail.

I agree with everything but the second and third point. End the war?... Just like that huh? Any reasonable person should be able to realize that it's not that easy. Believe it or not I think there really are goals and objectives in Iraq. Most people now seem to think it's just a never ending ordeal. Either way the war needs to be finished properly.. State government is no better off then Federal government. Anyone from Michigan would know that the state government here is about to collapse. Seems as if they need Federal help if you ask me.....but then again.

I like Ron Paul's stands on those issues. But I am supporting Duncan Hunter, as he has been for building the border fence and deporting illegal aliens for years. It is a shame that Ron Paul is the only Repub who wants to get our troops out of Iraq quickly. Most Americans favor ending the war, and it will hurt the Repub nominee if he wants to continue to keep large numbers of troops in Iraq.

How can you continue to cut taxes and put out money for the war, secure the borders and solve other issues? I think we have so over spent that we would have to increase our taxes to pay for everything we have already done. I think this is now a bill we are responsible for.

On the surface that may sound good. But with everything
you've mentioned are issues concerning "How" it's done.
As far as borders are concerned, if it weren't for illegals
there really shouldn't be borders between the US and
our friends and allies (other than tokenism, and the need
to get some control over drugs and illegal contraband).

We need to:

- Raise taxes. We should have a 100% tax on all income above $80,000, with exceptions for journalists, government employees, artists, and entertainers.

- End the war and disarm totally; disolve the millitary completely.

- Expand government and the welfare state

- Open borders for all, except close off certain areas like the Hamptons, Boston, Beverly Hills, etc.

Hillary in 2008!!!

As a Canadian, I'm always puzzled why you lump us in with Mexico on border issues. Its a vastly different situation and needs to be addressed differently.

Very few people understand that we are your biggest trading partner in both exports and imports and we are not flooding you with illegal immigrants nor terrorists.

We are a peaceable nation with a lot of raw materials that you guys seem to want. Cutting us off will not upset us nearly as much as it will just affect YOUR economy, not to mention slapping the face of a long time friend and ally.
