like... the people with Christopher columbus. what was the place they slept called?

i think they slept in wooden bunks or hammocks. but for sure, colombus slept on a king-size double mattress!

At this time the crew usually slept in hammocks slung in the 'forecastle' or foc'sle at the front of the vessel. The captain would have a cabin of his own at the stern of the ship with a bunk. There might be small cabins for other officers. Gunners in fighting ships might sleep in hammocks actually slung between the guns.

The berth or sleeping quarters in the hold (the big empty space below decks).
They probably slept in hammocks or small platforms stacked up the sides of the hull.
